When Gillian and Carolyn asked me to work with them to produce their brand imagery I was chuffed. ‘Champagne Cartel’ really resonates with down-to-earth mums doing an awesome job of balancing work, kids and life. They needed some photographs to reflect their sassy personalities; professional but relaxed with lots of life (and champagne). Et voila.
Here’s what Gillian & Carolyn had to say after the shoot:
“Recently, us laydees of the Cartel were lucky enough to be subject matter for the absolutely fabulous Brisbane photographer Briony Walker. We needed some corporate headshots and she was the first person I thought of to help.
I’ve known Briony for about eight years. We worked together in a multimedia team in government and although we did some super cool projects, like photographing the desert from a light plane, many days those beige government halls were eye-pokingly dull. Briony was my beacon of quirk in a sea of bland.
Briony is a very skilled, creative and a technically proficient photographer. She has been working in her field since 1994 and runs a successful business doing corporate work, documentary family portraits and beautiful nature photography.
What is instantly striking about Briony is her quiet calm and empathy with her subjects. She sets you immediately at ease with her unruffled and supremely capable demeanor. You know you’re in good hands. On top of that, she has an artistic sensibility, and can find beauty in the most mundane of subjects.
For our Champagne Cartel shoot, she listened carefully to our brief, carefully reviewed our moodboards and discussed in detail the shot list we’d compiled. I think the results speak volumes for her talent and creativity. Especially when dealing with such deranged subject matter.
Upon receipt of the final imagery, I was frankly astounded (although maybe no-one else would be) at how many of the tableau involved either Carolyn or I laughing maniacally, pouring bubbly down our gullet or pulling a face that would put the village idiot to shame. Huh.
Despite all this, we ended up with some absolute crackers. Briony Walker you are a wonderful photographer and we love you!”
