There are seasons in life that leave a mark on us. The years when a daughter grows up, a marriage ends, a new chapter begins, or we find ourselves quietly questioning who we are becoming. At the time, they often feel ordinary. It is only later that we realise how much was changing beneath the surface.
I'm Briony Walker, a Brisbane portrait photographer creating thoughtful portrait experiences for women and girls. Through projects such as Seen, Mighty Girl and Collective Wisdom, my work explores identity, connection and the stories we carry through different stages of life.
The photographs matter, of course. But what interests me most is what happens when we pause long enough to really see ourselves, and each other. Years from now, these images become much more than a record of how someone looked.
They become a reminder of who they were, what mattered, and the season of life they were living through at the time.
